Step-by-Step: How to Create a Personalized Design with CustomCat

Want to let your customers personalize their products? CustomCat makes it easy to add customizable text to any design using our built-in personalization tool.

1. Open Your Design Library

• Log in to your CustomCat account.

• Click “Design Library” in the left navigation menu.

• Find the design you want to personalize.

2. Edit the Design

• Hover over the design and click “Edit” to open the Design Editor.

3. Add Personalization Text

• In the bottom-right corner of the editor, click “Add Personalization Text.”

• This opens the Personalization Tool, where you can:

  • Choose from 40+ fonts

  • Adjust text size, color, spacing, and curvature

💡 Note: The text shown in the Display Text field is only a preview.
Customers will enter their own text when purchasing.

4. Save Your Personalized Design

• Once your text placement and styling are set, click “Save Text” in the bottom-right corner.

• You can rename the design file if you’d like.

• The new version will be saved separately with a “personalized” tag—your original file will stay unchanged.

5. Personalization Limits & Notes

• You can add up to 4 lines of text to your personalized design.

⚠️ Etsy users:
Etsy only supports one line of personalization. Avoid using additional lines when exporting personalized products to Etsy.

6. View Your Updated Design

• Go back to your Design Library.

• You’ll see both the original and the new personalized version listed separately.

You’ve successfully created a personalized design using the CustomCat editor. Now you're ready to apply that design to any product in the catalog.
