Step-by-Step: How to Create a Product Template with CustomCat

 

Creating a Product Template in CustomCat helps you speed up product creation by saving commonly used product settings. Templates can store your preferred product styles, colors, sizes, prices, titles, descriptions, and more.

1. Start Product Creation

  • Log in to your CustomCat account.

  • Click “Create Product” in the left-hand navigation.

  • Choose “Bulk Product Creation” under Advanced Tools.

  • Select the store where you want to build the template.

2. Choose Your Products

  • Select the blank products to include in your template
    (e.g., 11 oz and 15 oz White Mug).

  • Click “Next Step” to continue.

3. Add Designs & Customize Details

🖼️ Upload or Select Designs

  • Upload new artwork or choose existing files from your Design Library.

✏️ Edit Product Details

Click into each product tile to customize:

  • Colors

  • Sizes

  • Title

  • Description

  • Tags

  • Pricing

4. Group Products (Optional)

If you’d like to group multiple items into one listing:

  • Select the products you want to group

  • From the Actions menu, choose “Group”

  • Name the group and update its title, description, and tags

5. Save Products to a Template

  • Click the star icon ⭐ on each product you want to include in the template
    → A highlighted star means it’s selected

  • Click “Next Step” to proceed

⚠️ Note: Templates are only saved after exporting. You must complete the export for the template to be saved.

6. Export to Finalize the Template

  • On the export page, confirm that the “Create Product Template” box is checked for all template items
    → If not, you can check it now

  • Click the gear icon ⚙️ to review and adjust export settings if needed

  • Click “Export All” to publish the products and save the template

✅ After export, a new template will appear in your template list, labeled with the date and time of creation.

7. View and Edit Your Saved Templates

You can access saved templates anytime by:

  • Going to “Create Product” > “Advanced Tools” > “Product Templates”

  • Or simply click “Add More Products” and select “Product Templates”

You’ve now successfully created and saved a reusable product template in CustomCat. This will save time when exporting similar product styles in the future.
